Job Summary
The Insurance Sales Representative is responsible for generating leads, building relationships with prospective and existing clients, and selling insurance policies that meet customer needs. This role requires strong communication skills, product knowledge, and the ability to meet or exceed sales targets while maintaining compliance with all licensing and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect for new customers through referrals, networking, cold calling, digital leads, and community outreach.
- Conduct needs assessments to recommend appropriate insurance products (e.g., life, auto, home, health, renters, commercial).
- Explain policy coverage, terms, pricing, deductibles, and exclusions clearly and accurately.
- Prepare quotes, proposals, and applications; coordinate with underwriting and processing teams as needed.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to encourage renewals and policy upgrades.
- Follow up with leads and active prospects to drive conversions and sales.
- Maintain accurate records in CRM systems (call logs, notes, pipeline status, documents).
- Participate in ongoing training to stay current on products, underwriting guidelines, and industry regulations.
- Ensure full compliance with company policies, state/federal regulations, and licensing requirements.
- Assist clients with policy servicing needs as appropriate (e.g., changes, claims support—within role scope).
- Meet established sales goals, activity targets, and quality/retention expectations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required).
- Active insurance license (or ability to obtain the required license(s) within a specified timeframe).
- Prior sales experience preferred (insurance experience a plus, but not required).
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze customer needs and match them to appropriate coverage options.
- Proficiency with CRM tools and basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience selling insurance policies or comparable financial products.
- Knowledge of insurance concepts and/or underwriting processes.
- Track record of meeting sales targets.
- Familiarity with state insurance regulations and required disclosures.
- Bilingual skills (a plus, but not required).
Physical/Work Environment
- Ability to work in an office environment and attend off-site meetings as required.
- Work may include extended phone and computer time.
Compensation
- Base salary plus commission/bonuses
- Performance-based incentives
Compensation: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
